Question Opinion on...

Corner cages?

Ki needs a new cage. I want one with a flat top (his has 3 arches). After that I am open. His cage now if 74" X 48" X 34". I would like something comparable in size.

My only other requirement is that the food bowls "slots" need to have bars across the top so the bowls cannot be pulled out from inside the cage (Ki loves to dump the bowls).

I like the corner cages but am open to suggestions.

Thanks for your opinions!

I wanted a corner cage, too.. from what i heard they aren't the best.. i think i heard they're harder to clean (two separate trays or something?) and harder to move around to clean.. and if they pretty much only go in corners, so you have to keep in mind if the cage ever needs to be moved to another room or something but can't go in a corner for some reason, it'd look pretty odd sticking out from the middle of the wall.. :P

True.

The 2 trays are not an issues...Ki's cage has 2 right now. THe only type of cage I have ever dealt with.

Still weighing the pro and cons.

Thanks for the thoughts

I recently bought Tonka, my CAG, a new corner cage (won a jackpot in Vegas and Tonka got the winnings!). I like it a lot because it really is a good use of space for my current bird room set-up. Tonka is pretty reserved about new things, so it took him almost a month before he was ready to move into it (we did visitations a lot, LOL) and then another two months before he actually would use all that space. But now he really seems to like it, and goes into all the corners and hangs off the boing, etc.

It IS hard to clean because it has to be pulled out of the corner, which takes manuevering room (sp?). Plus, you kinda have to climb halfway in to vacuum out the stuff that falls in corners etc. So it's not my favorite task. And it's too tall to use the top as a playtop, but I have stands in every room so that's not a big issue for me. But it is worth it because of the roominess of the interior, and Tonka seems very happy in it. My only regret is that I got it in dark grey, not white. It seems to be very dark - luckily the bird room is fairly well lit, so I'm not worried. But I would have got the white one if I would have thought it through a bit more.

Here is a link to a cage that is exactly like the one I bought (got mine at Magnolia Bird farm, a local bird store):

Did you have to pay for freight charges or anything? I know they advertise free shipping, but does that really mean 100% free shipping?

No, I didn't purchase my cage online. I found my at a local bird shop and picked it up myself. I just included the link to show the exact cage that I was talking about....

Actually, this usually means that shipping is factured into the price already. So the price of the cage, is the price what they show on the website, minus whatever it costs them to send you the cage.

I'm not really a big fan of corner cages either, as the others have stated.
