Yea!! caiques...gots love em!!

Hello, my name is Stephanie and I am the proud owner of three pairs of caiques. One White bellied pair and two Black headed pairs. They are such great birds. :D Only one pair of the BH is handtame and the WB pair is handtame. The second Bh pair was not handfed and will only accpet treats from my hand. (no other physical contact is appreciated) They all love love love toys, food, and each other. I have noiced that the caiques form a stronger pair bond than any other pairs I have had. My BH bathe together, eat together, sleep together and most of the time will play with their toys together. The WB do the same however, they are a bit more independant. Because they are all young pairs I have not had babies from them yet, however, I am hoping that this is the year!! I just can't wait to play with their babies and share the wealth with others. Theses guys are colorful, playfyul, inquisitive, cuddly, for the most part quiet and not usually a one person birds. Characteristics that everyone loves. All in one compact little critter. I would love to chat with other caique owners and or breeders! thank you for adding this forum!

Thank you and I have to agree. They roll like puppies swing around like moneys, hop like bunnies and make so many different noises. A person who has a caique can throw their cable out the window because they will never again be bored. They will probably watch and play with their caique more than they watched their T.V :D The WB pair is 4 yrs. One BH pair is 5 and the other pair is 6yrs. This is their season and they are becoming mature enough, so I will cross my fingers and hope they make some babies for me. If not, I'll just continue to enjoy their company. :)

Hey Stephanie, since you have both the BH and WB I have a question for you. Is there any personality difference between the two? What about between the males and females? I'm think about adding to my family and I wanted to do some research before-hand. Also, do they all seem to get along together pretty well? I already have a female ekkie...

Haha so right about never needing cable again! I just give my caique a towel and he talks to it whistles to it kisses it laughs at it....... better than any TV show I ever watch or listen to, LOL
Do any of your guys caiques have a towel fettish, leather fettish or a closet fettish? Mine has all of the above! He loves closets, chewing leather, and rubbing on towels.

You can't be more right about caiques! They just might be the perfect pet bird. I also have 2 pairs of BHC and hope to get a pair of WBC this year. Another ironic thing is that we actually did get rid of cable a year ago and, yes, we are doing fine.

Mine are handfed but don't appreciate handling, however, they will run to me if I have a treat in my hand.

How old are your pairs? Not to brag, but my pairs just started mating the other day. I can't believe there might be more of this crazy, clownish, caiqueness around.

Good luck with your pairs!
