I'm New To the Caique World!

Hello! Sunday I just got a White Bellied Caique!! I did my research on the net, and through books, I watched videos of them on You Tube, and I felt the Caique would be the perfect fid for me! So I got one! She will be one in March, and I am her third home! She is doing wonderfully though! She says "step up", "pretty bird", wolf whistles, and says gibberish I don't understand! lol...She is so smart having learned all of those words before she even hit one!! I love her so much!! She is so silly she lets me touch her everywhere! and is settling in so well! She molting now though...so she's very itchy! Is there a good molting medicine or technique out there that could help her with her itching? I spray her daily, and give her baths every other day...I also itch her...lol...she loves being itched! Also does anyone have any Caique must haves that I should know??

She is a beauty!!!What's her name?? The best thing you can do is to bathe/mist her often and help her with her pin feathers when they come in.I have 2 Caiques Emily a BH and Oliver a WB,they are a true joy to watch!!! They adore foot toys that they can roll around on the bottom of their cage with,and their boings with bells on the bottom that they can beat on.

congrats and welcome. you've been caiqued! i am owned by a 9 1/2 mo old bh/wb caique,sassafras. sassy is the silly girl of the clan. she can say:pretty girl,what!,whatcha ya doin?, hello,bye,bye and night,night. oh, and peek-a-boo. im trying to get her to say i love you or i see you instead of peek-a-boo all the time.lol. she barks like a dog.lol we dont have a dog. they also like alot of chewable toys. they like to eat. btw, where did you get your caique? sassy comes from lodi,oh.

Michelle, I haven't thought of a name for her yet! Her previous name was Lou Lou...which she doesn't know...I've called her Mango, but I'm not really feeling it...lol...so I'm still on the search! Today she took a nice warm shower with me, and I blow dried her off, and she played in the towel...she seemed to feel so much better after she was dry! I've definatly gotta get some foot toys and a boing or two for her! The bird show is coming up and I'm excited to go shopping!!
Cpryslek, your caique must be real smart to know all of those words at such a young age!! I thought mine was!! Wow..I'm impressed!! I got her from a lady who had two other Caiques in Ashland, Ohio! What a coincidence that both are Caiques are Ohioians! (so am I, lol) Below is a picture of her after her shower!

Yeah...those bird shows are dangerous! lol, I always seem to come home with something, making the birds like potato chips statement true!! lol
