Exclamation Caique seeking same

Hi everyone!

I'm new to this forum and ended up on it because i am in search for a companion for my 2 year old WB Caique (Pixie). I live in the Orange County area and need to find some one close because she is the one picking a friend so they must meet person! Pixie is my baby, i love her dearly and i want her to have another being in her life that she can connect with aside from me, because mommy's not always home! If any one knows of a caique that needs a new home or of a breeder in the area please let me know!

I also had a question for you fellow caique slaves... Do you know if there is another type of poicephalus that can be housed with a caique? I dont have a problem with aggression, she is the SWEETEST thing to other birds and has never shown a sign of aggression towards one. My main concern is diet, since you cant tell the birds not to share food! I have Pixie on Harrison's Coarse diet, as recommended by my dr. I only ask this because it has proven difficult for me to find any Caiques in the area.

Too bad we dont live in the same city. I am in the same bind. I feel that my male caique needs more interaction. I would gladly give him to a good home if he got along with the other bird, but like you I would want them in the same city so I could know that things worked out. My other option is to get another caique, like you. I'm not sure that I am ready for the noise level/ increased time/ increased attention required though!

... i know, that's how i found this site, because i've been looking for ads just like hers. but she posted almost a year ago with no update, so i would assume she has found a solution. I was so excited when i found it, and INCREDIBLY bummed when i saw how old it was

I dont know if it takes the pressure off. If it does, than I will get one RIGHT away. I know he would be so happy...at least I would hope so. I know he craves another bird's company. He so badly wants to be friends with my conure, who would rather the caique leave for good. I absolutely HATE leaving my boys when I go on vacation, and if I knew Zeek had a friend to snuggle/play with, than I would feel so much better. It may also take the pressure off of my conure, who I think sometimes gets neglected because Zeek monopolizes me when I am at home.

If your caique gets along with the new one, maybe consider it...but $1300! Yikes that seems expensive for a caique, but maybe prices have gone up?

I am in Phoenix, btw.

Those little caiques are expensive, they go for $1000.00 here. You can try this sight...

Don't know of anyone off the top of my head, but you might try posting at caiqueforum.com as well. Check out birdbreeders, and I know eggsotic aviary in CA breeds caiques, too.
