Sad story

I got a caique for my birthday. This caique was a sad caique when i bought him. His mate had died 3 weeks ago after we got it. He was sad and plucked himself. We took him home:). I was suprised that he was sooooooo friendly after in a breeding situation. 7 days later he looked really tired. Id play with him but all he seemed to love was head scrathes and cuddling. Today (which was 9 days after i got him) i went to play with him, and put him back on one of his perches in the cage. I cam back home, he was in the same place...but slightly falling. I saw blood in his poo where he was perched. I immediately put him in a hospital cage i own. Called the vet and and i would have seen the vet tomorrow. i had to leave for 3 hours while this bird was in a terrible situation, but i knew all i could of done was have hope he would survive untill tomorrow to see the vet. When i came home, he was on his belly. I went to go get him, he purred like a cat and asked for a head scratch. I petted him and he died rubbing his head on my palm. I figured he had waited for me to come home and pet him before he died. I didnt even have time to name the bird. The reason why i decided to post this was to show you that second hand birds can also be friendly. I had other baby parrots before but none matched the tameness of this ex-breeder. I love him sooo much, i will never forget him and i will always keep that one picture i had taken of him. That's right, i didnt even keep him long enough to take pictures or name him

I'm sorry for your loss, but glad that he had a chance to know love. Fly free, little one!

Oh this truly is sad. As a caique owner myself this really touched my heart. It was kind of you to take in the bird. I'm so sorry you had to experience this loss. They are such wonderful playful little guys.

I'm sorry for your loss... and I hate to say it but he may have been so tame and friendly because he was sick when you got him. Are you going to get his body necropsy to find out what hapened to him?

I am so sorry for your loss. I'm so glad, also, that he was able to find you before he passed. I agree, he probably was sick before you took him home, and the fact that he was able to spend his last days with someone as loving as yourself probably meant the world to him.

Oh, and I still think you should give him a name, even now.
