Yesterday I ran to Petco to get a couple of things. While checking out the fish, lady that worked there had a baby WBC on her shoulder!!
I've been reading about them and think one should have 2, the way they like to play. ;-) They sooo have my interest! Have never seen one in person, not common around here. Since I was in no hurry, she let me have him to hold and play with while she did her fish tank duties! What an awesome, beautiful bird! They have a waiting list for Caiques and sell them for $1500!!
Unfortunately, there will be nooo surprises when Lucas gets home THIS time! lol

I will say that I'm very glad you didn't get a bird from Petco.

The WB are cute, but the BH are cuter- lol

You can find babies from good breeders for between $750 and $1000.

We got our Sun Conure from Petco in December. He is a wonderful little guy, so sweet and loving. At this Petco anyway, the 'bird lady' is knowledgeable and has not sold birds to someone she thought was unfit. She told of a guy wanting to buy a Conure and then wanting to buy the 'cute' finch cage for him!

My wife and I have a wonderful 4 year old male white-bellied caique named Birdie. We love him, but, our current situation is making it impossible to keep him. We travel frequently, my job has taken us to South America, and now we have a 1-yr-old baby... traveling back and forth with the two is crazy and not fair to the bird... We need to find a very good home for him, a family experienced with birds. We are currently in Boca Raton, Florida and need to find someone to take him by the end of July, when we must head back to South America...

I would love to take him but unfortunately live in Southeast Texas. I have two other caiques both males.

I thought all they sold was "cute finch cages"... never seen a suitable size cage for a conure in a store like that, even when they have the birds for sale...have to say, though - finches don't think those cages are so cute. Most of them have more vertical space and not enough horizontal space...yuck.
