new and biting

i have just bought a caique (female) about 18 months old, the problem is she loves my husband and he can do anything with her, but me she hates everytime i go near her she bites and i mean bites, my son's girlfriend was sitting in the room and she flew over and bit her on the arm lots of times for no apparent reason.
help is needed here what can i do, she lowers her head and flaps here wings what does this mean, we don't know enough about birds behaviour so i don't know what messages she is giving us. any suggestion would be grateful as we don't want to give up at the first sign of trouble.
