Pogo bathes and dries off!
Don't think I've ever posted any Pogo vids over here, so here goes! I've never seen birds love baths as much as my caiques do!!! Here he is bathing, and surfing a towel to dry off.

Scooter, you have 5 caiques huh? Do they get along with each other? Did you get them all as babies or get them as older birds? Don't know if mine are jealous of each other yet or not as they don't interact with each other yet....Jack wants NOTHING to do with any of my other birds at all. Pogo just wants ANY other bird to play with him. Sure, he loves playing with me, but what he wants more than anything is to find just ONE other bird to play like he does. It's so cute cuz he just tries so hard to be friends with my conure and my quaker....and they do tolerate him...but inevitibally he gets carried away and upsets them and I have to remove him from one of their backs....hehehe.
Sidney, is Neko your gcc? (looking at your siggie...a plet and a gcc?) My conure and my quaker like to bathe in their bowls...but it's the sink for the caiques...they both love it so much. My linnie will only let us mist her, and that is super cute too....she either hangs upside down and extends her wings, or lays on the bottom of her cage and rolls from one side to the other so I can get under each wing. Wonder if your plet would like being misted?

Chili was my first caique - I just adored him and wanted a white belly. I ended up getting two babies (one for my ex) but I finished hand feeding both of them (they were11 weeks and 14 weeks). Later he decided he didn't want one which was fine, as I was too attached to let one go. Those two played really well together and were so much fun to watch grow up. Turned out one is female and the other male. They are not related, however, I do not want to breed them. For awhile, the white belly male would play with Chili - they would chase each other around and wrestle. Once they were both sexually mature that ended. Now I have to watch them constantly. If they are both out at the same time they can run around on the floor fine. But the white belly likes to get on Chili's cage (which is in the living room). If Chili is in the cage and the door is shut he tries to kill the white belly. If the door is open and he is on top - he just scurries down to the floor and goes elsewhere to avoid him.
Basically - the answer to "do they get along" is no. They are not friends, but if all out on the floor just exploring, they can tolerate each other. The only two that can get close enough to preen are the two white bellies I got together. They were caged together as babies and for many years. However, he is a little more persistant and bossy at times so they have seperate daytime cages. They always slept together in their little snuggle tube and were so cute. But this year he finally has started getting breedy behavior - I am surprised that it took him so long to figure out what to do. ha ha Cricket (WB caique) and Paulie (sun conure) are best friends. They shared a cage when they came to my home but when I had to get the sun conure a new cage when the caique kept chasing him around the cage. She has little hormonal episodes, where for a few minutes she wants to kill anything around her. Then 5 minutes later she will lay upside down in my hand and be the sweetest little thing. While they sit on me they will preen each other - it is very cute and it makes me happy that they have each other. Paulie was probably about 2 yrs old when Cricket was brought into the family as a very little baby being hand fed. So they became friends.

I don't think that I would want to let any of my caiques interact with a budgie. The size difference would bother me. Right now I am sort of housesitting a little green cheek conure. What an attitude that little guy has. But I watch her very carefully when she is out because if she gets startled and flies, I don't want to to land on someones cage - as I have a couple who would go for the toes. They have been a little curious about who the new guy is - but I don't let them get very close. But you never know - I have seen some strange combinations pair up and be good buddies.
