Caiques are AWESOME! I have a BH. I like the black beak and feet, as well as the head. The WB are a little pale for me.

Mine is EXTREMELY loud and very bossy. I got him when he was almost 4, so he learned this in his old home. Caiques can be pretty destructive, too. Mine tries to tear up my couch. They are generally pretty bird-aggressive (mine sure is)

But- he is also very entertaining, funny, sweet, smart, and beautiful.

I'd suggest doing a ton of research on prevention of bad behaviors and habits while it's still a baby. I wish Nokomis had come to me as a baby.

They are so fun and sweet- so most people can't get enough of them in the beginning. They get used to alot of attention. Then, when work and other things come up, and you have to leave them, they can try to force you to give them the same attention.

I'm glad I have Nokomis, but I wouldn't get a re-homed caique again.

Good luck if you choose to bring it home- they really can be WONDERFUL birds.

I have a WB and a BH Caique, and I think they are great little birds. They truly are the clowns of the bird world and they always make me smile with their antics.

I love them but I do not own one. We were going to get one before we received Abbey. I don't think she would like one as a brother or sister. I love there attitudes. I like both types.

Look on youtube... there are videos.. very cute

hi i have a caique and i got her when she was 18 months old, they are great little bird with a big character they are very very demanding, love lots of attention will go to anyone when they get to know them, she will hang upside down on your finger bob dance when we get visitors and loves to eat when we eat, she loves to eat a Sunday roast dinner (without the meat) all the veg and she loves potatoes and roast parsnips, she runs around on the floor, mine likes to walk about as they are not great flyer's, but will do when they have to.
i have not owner another parrot before so i don't know what other birds are like, i wanted a caique because they don't fly about like budgies.

Everyone has given a pretty good description of living with a caique. I would say that I think Caiques may take a little more time and effort (and patience) than some of the other more mellow birds. I have a friend who has 70 birds (all inside) and her house is never as loud as mine is. However, many of hers are cockatiels, parakeets. She does not have a caique - but her bird that does somewhat remind me of caiques is her goffin cockatoo. He is very outgoing and hyper - but when he is in his cage when I take care of them if she is gone - he never screams. But when he is out he wants to always be on someone. My amazon and sun conures are way less demanding - altho the sun conures love to be on my shoulder to visit.

Actually - the other day I saw a post for a blind and deaf cat that needed a home. I was thinking that I could give her a good home and the noise of the birds wouldn't bother her if she is deaf. Then I remembered how my caiques would chase my last cat and immediately realized that would be pure hell for that cat. They didn't all do that - just my two white bellies that were raised together. It is mostly the female who is very aggressive.

I think that caiques are just the greatest little birds if you like the fun of their activity level and the challenge of a high spirited being.
