Wing flapping

Sometimes my caique will cling to the cage inside or out and start flapping her wings wildly. What does this mean?
More so on the outside back of the cage.

isn't that just wing exercise? My birds do this too. It's good for them. Gets their heart rate up! It's probably the next best thing to flying on a treadmill :)

My Greys do this often! They're already very fit as they aren't clipped and fly a lot in my house but they still love to wing flap vigorously while holding on to the cage!

One day they'll take-off with it!

wing flapping

hi my caique crouches down and holds her wings back and sort of shakes them as if she is about to fly, i now know this means she wants me to pick her up when she does this, my chickens do the exact same thing when i go out and feed them my little brown chicken loves to be picked up and cuddled so when she sits with her wings back and shaking them i know she wants a cuddle. they are so interesting i am learning all the time about what she is asking for.

Draco does this a couple times a week. I'm pretty sure he's just exercising. He always starts panting afterwords.

I read the following "encouraging daily flapping exercise until the bird is just slightly winded activates the cardiovascular systems, stimulating the bird's metabolism and improving circulation". -- also says "that bathing also functions as exercise and allowing the bird to dry naturally, even though it might shiver just a bit, provides similar metabolic and vascular benefits flapping and climibing exercises".

I read alot!!!!
