Brought my canary to vet - he still isn't better
Colin got checked out because he had some growths on his legs and lost some feathers behind his head - and the vet told me to apply mineral oil to his feet and legs, and use powdered vitamins on his daily vegetables.
A few weeks later his feet look much better, but his feathers didn't grow back yet. I read adding Castor oil to his seed (just a drop a day) could help, and to add Pure Vitamin E also to his legs along with his mineral oil. Please tell me what everyone thinks... did this happen to anyone else's canary ? What can I do ? Colin lost his long time mate in October around when this all began. Do you think that matters too ? |

Thank-you, Gary !
My canary continues to be very active, sings, and enjoys playing on his swing, and eating his veggies. So now I just have to patiently wait for his plummage to return.
Did anyone ever have this happen to their canary ? I was always giving him vegetables and PRIME, but not everyday. Now since the vet told me to, I give Colin a variety of veggies daily with PRIME. I feel guilty that Colin needed the vet's help, because I honestly thought I was taking the best of care of him. He is three years old, and nothing like this happened to any of my birds ever before. The good news is that Colin always remained active and playful, never losing his song. He just is without a feathers on the back of his head, and a bit around the front of his neck. I am really happy to learn that he could be fully feathered and back to his beautiful self in a few months. Does anyone have anything else they could tell me about my situation with Colin ? I really want to keep him the happiest and healthiest I can !! Thank-you, Laura and Colin |
