Nesting Zebra Finches ! ONE MALE /TWO FEMALES in one nest !

Hello !

I had Zebra finches all my life, but here is a new situation I need advice on please !

I have four Zebra finches, and each are paired up. Two standard greys, and one sliver/cream zebra & a white with a few biege belly freckles.

Natalie (who is male - but named before I knew...) is extremely busy with his nest. Nesta, his wife, does most of the brooding, but does take a few breaks where Natalie (the Dad) takes over.... or Naomi (the mate of Noah)...

Sometimes Noah will be in his own Nest all by himself, while Natalie, Naomi and Nesta are pile into the other nest (where the eggs are !)

Should I move Naomi ? The male doesn't mind her helping out, nor does the female. It is very cute to see them all looking after the eggs, but will there be trouble if/when the eggs hatch ? Noah - the mate to Naomi sometimes goes into the nest too. No one seems to be fighting. It is the white finches that are raising the eggs, but I'd say Naomi is in their nest helping out 15% of the time. Nesta and Natalie (male) seem to enjoy snuggling with her !

Please tell me what everyone thinks !

I don't know too much about finches though I do know that they all enjoy snuggling together in one nest! If there is no problem I wouldn't worry about it. When the eggs hatch (if they are fertile), just keep a watch on things and see how it all goes. Maybe all of them will help raise the chicks!

yeah i agree i think the finches are just being social and want to help the chicks but I would keep an close eye on them while the are babies.

It should be OK- zebras are extremely social, and they usually help out in the parenting of other birds, sometimes even take over the nests! Just keep a close eye on them, and if problems arise, I would recommend a split up, but it sounds like it should be ok... I have 5 nests in my flight cage fo rmy finches, but my 2 spice and one society enjoy snuggling together in one nest at night. Before the societies mate died, they ALL used to be in the same nest! 4finches, one nest!
