No, not a good idea. Although the space is large, your canaries would probably injure the owls. Owl finches are gentle Australian grass finches, and can be kept with similar birds such as zebras, gouldians, star finches, and diamond sparrows. They can also be kept with some of the gentle waxbills - such as cordon blues, strawberries, African (NOT Australian) fire finches, orange cheeks.

If you wish to maintain them in a cage, they are charming and entertaining little birds. Just make sure the cage is long (at least 30") rather than tall so they can have some flying room.

Regards,

I wouldnt worry about the canaries injuring the owls- I have a canary in with my finches and have heard many people who keep mixed flights. Canaries are gentle giants in the finch world.
Its actually more a thing of "Do the owls have canary pox?"
Finches can carry a disease called canary pox- it will never affect the finches in any way, shap or form. But stick a finch in with a canary (who, strangly is just a big finch) and that disease can be passed onto the canary and kill the canaries. Finches who are bred in outdoor flights are the ones who are the most common carriers of this disease.
