How to get rid of ants in aviary

Just wondering how you would go about getting rid of ants in an aviary without poisoning your birds. Would the finches eat the ants? I keep the aviary pretty clean but it seems that if you put eggfood in there, within an hour there are tiny ants heading for it.

Any ideas?

Only thing I can think of is boric acid. Should kill the ants and be fine with the birds.

If it is outside try putting a chalk line around the cage. Ants won't cross chalk. Also they are not supposed to cross copper. You could put some copper around the bottom of the outside of the cage. I also think baking soda but am not sure. Get ahold of some of the old fashion remedy books like Jerry Baker or Heloise's column. She probably has books out.
