can you tell if it's a girl or boy w/o dna test? Are they easily tame? Mine will let me hold it! It seems quite scared! Is this normal? it's name is Little Nipper...I rescued him from a lady with 14 finches and a parakeet in one cockatiel cage! I really told her off beacuse the parakeet was hurting the little guys... BTW can I feed it parakeet seed? if not I can't get to the store until thrusday! I would love to get Nipper some fresh treats...would parsley sprouts work? I really need help asap!

They are usually a bit of a challenge to tame, but sometimes freeze when scared. He will be okay on budgie seed for a few days, though it is not optimal. They like a wide variety of greens (though if he hasn't had it, you may have to introduce it), broccoli, fruit, etc. Playing in water is the greatest of fun -- they like to bathe and splash around. Congrats on your new little one.
