My two society finchs (mating)

I need help, i got them at pet smart and they were in the nest and they had a egg in so i supposed that they would mate at my house but they haven't, the male sings but does not mate with the female and they always sits in the nest but no eggs, i also have the thing you put hay in and hang it
and its over the nest but that is the favorite place to hang.

you can ask me anything about them and i can upload a video of them and there cage

how long have you had them for? If you haven't had them for very long they probably aren't comfortable enough with their surroundings to mate. Switching their environment around usually discourages breeding. How big is the cage? How many hours of daylight do you give them? Is there an ample amount of food and water?

How do you know you have a male and female? Many finch species - including societies - will lay eggs even if there are two females. It's completely natural for them to do this but the eggs will never hatch because they are unfertilized if this is the case. Do you want them to breed? If you don't, there is nothing wrong with removing the nest totally. They do not need it unless you want to breed them. Of course, time will tell whether you have a female and male or two females.
