Unhappy sad note...

4 zebra eggs and 1 society egg died in a fatal accident today.
i pulled all 5 eggs from the society nest .i put them under her since the society seemed to be sitting tighter at that point. a common nest inspection was performed.in my nest inspections the eggs are looked at but not touched.(my birds are over confident in these, even when i handle them.)and a candling session was to take place.i cradled the eggs in a little hanging feed dish lined with paper towel, in this i carry my eggs to a dark part of the house downstairs where i can check the growth.somehow i loss balance and fell down the steps carrying the eggs.all eggs were broken beyond repair....the 1 1/2 week embryo's would not survive this.
it sucks feeling that you killed them.had you not been stupid or left them alone they would have survived.no attacks are needed as of this moment.i feel like my own worst enemy. :(

Are you ok? I am so sorry to hear about your eggs. Try not to be too hard on yourself...it was an accident.

Oh, so sorry! Please do not blame yourself. It was an accident. Accidents happen.

Did you get injured? Poor thing... I know your heart is broken, but it wasn't your fault.

How awful for you. I can imagine how terrible you feel both emotionally and physically. Did you fall down many steps??? I hope you are OK. There will be other eggs and another opportunity to have babies. I am so sorry.

i know, but it still sucks, especially when you can see the hearts beating and feel them move in your hand.
i'm ok, a little sore and bruised but thankfully ok body wise.emotionally i have grieved over these past days i still struggle with the fact that i feel like i killed them.
mom and dad are sluggishly starting on a new clutch, they have two as of now.at first i thought there was only going to be one egg laid but after at least a day or so she laid another one.i will check to see the timing between this one and the next laid.i worry about how she is laying them with intervals now.
the societies have yet to lay.for some reason they are my hardest to breed.i have to realy coax them to get them moving.
