Talking Photos Of My Finches

Just showing off some of my babies, past and present, hehe. :D This post is pic heavy, sorry!

Cactus (front) and Calypso, my two Red Throated Parrot Finches

Phoenix (in the basket) and Keisuke, Zebra Finches

Photo manip of one of the Zebra bubs

Dante (charcoal mutation) and Nancy (fawn mutation)

One of my clutches. I just figured it out and they are 2 years old already! Time flies. Dante is their dad.

My favourite boy Fenris and his brother Fry behind him (both RIP)

All siblings, Nancy, Fenris, and Dante's 'wife' Namida (meaning 'tear' in Japanese). Fenris and Namida are just chatting about how strange Nancy is. :P

Their sister Isis

Axel and Kari, the parents of Fenris, Isis, Nancy, Namida, Fry and Spot. That was a few years back now.

Photo manip of Fenris, Namida, Spot and Fry (lol, people wonder how I can tell them all apart, hehe)

Dante

Charcoal Zebras Dante and Seth

Axel and Kari with all 6 bubs. The bubs left to right are Isis, Fenris (Kari: Hold still, your feathers are out of place. Fenris: Mum, you're embarrasing me!), Fry, Namida, Spot and Nancy

Here they are again

Cactus and Fenris

Now for something different and rare, the newest addition to the family is my unnamed halfsider Zebra Finch. These next three photos are the exact same finch

And one of halfsider's unnamed fawn brothers:

Whew! I hope I didn't kill your computer. Sorry dial-ups.

They are all so beautiful! Do they live in an aviary? Also, do the zebra finches live with the red throated parrot finches (sorry if this is a stupid question but I am not an expert when it comes to mixed aviaries of finches)?

I too am wondering how you tell them all apart. Especially the babies before they got all of their colors. They are absolutely gorgeous though, simply stunning! Love your charcoal and fawn mutations.

Yes, they live in an aviary. The Zebra Finches are kept with the Red Throated Parrot Finches. I've also kept them with Gouldian Finches and Java Sparrows. :)

The photo with the 6 babies contains 2 pieds (so they look different), 1 fawn, 1 fawn pied, so they are actually easy enough to tell apart when you look carefully. But the two normals are more difficult. Then I end up putting leg bands on them anyway to identify them.

Eep, those are some vicious zebras! x__x They can be big bullies. I use to have similar problems with my quails, they are so cute, yet so violent if they decide they don't like another quail anymore.

Wow!

I was overtaken by all the cuteness! Your birds look so happy and healthy, and your charcoal mutation zebras are so handsome.
