[QUOTE=nixity;1449842]II have always used SCATT on incoming birds and do not find it to be extraordinarily harsh on them.
The only catch is the for SCATT, birds must be at least 6 months of age. QUOTE] I don't know that you "can't" use Scatt on birds younger than 6 months...it is supposed to be administered by weight. I've used it on Birds at about 6-8 weeks old with no problems. |

Yes the dosage is by weight - and the dosage on the bottle is 1 drop per 30 grams of body weight. The average adult Gould is only about 16g- so "1/2" a drop. Not sure about Canaries, but I usually do one drop on my Goulds.

Hello Snazy,
What a wonderful story about how Cicero came into your lives. I was wondering how he is doing. I just bought my first canary in over 40 years, and he is quite a character---sings all day long and bounces around the cage like a rubber ball. Reading about Cicero's illness, however, I am worried. I do not have sufficient experience to handle a canary and administer medicine! I know a lot more about dogs and horses! I hope Cicero has made a full recovery! |
