Jiffy cornbread mix is NOT good food for birds (probably not people either) - it has refined white flour, degerminated cornmeal, sugar, salt, and baking powder. None of these ingredients are good for birds.
The best bird bread (cornmeal or otherwise) is made from whole grain flours - whole wheat, stone ground whole cornmeal, an egg or two, whatever amount of liquid you need for the right consistency (unsweetened fruit juice or water). Then you can add in extras or not - pureed fruit and/or vegetables, sprouts, powdered pellets, dried chili flakes. It's pretty easy to just mix one up, and bake at 350 until a toothpick in the center comes out clean.
