Hello...I'm new here but I'm searching for advice on Fife canaries.

I have two Fifes...both male...they roam free while I'm in the room but I prefer it if they are in when I go out.

One of my birds will go back in his cage no problem when told...the other is acting almost like a naughty toddler/stroppy teenager...I get a lot of verbal and plenty of raised head feathers and outstretched wings when it comes to getting him in his cage...he's become very affectionate and 'calls' me if I'm out of sight...he is also showing signs of jealousy towards his companion...both have a cage each but freely go in each others...we have minimal arguments and a lot of sharing.

Is there any explanation for Stone's behaviour? (the canary in question)...theye both 8 months old and were obtained from a good reputable breeder and I adore them both equally.

If he's having so much fun outside of the cage, why should he go back in? What would make it exciting enough for him to go back in his cage?

Have you tried not forcing him to go back in his cage, but offering a tasty treat inside the cage for him to eat?
