Please help--Zebra finch aggression

Hi everyone

In April I got a pair of male zebra finches. They have always seemed to get along well. They have food, water, toys, cuttle bone, sometimes fresh food, a nest, and a cleaned cage once a week. Lately one of the finches has been aggressive to the other. He chases the other around, and won't let him in the nest. He also doesn't let him on certian perches. I just don't know what to do.

Could my cage be too small? It's sort of a standard rectangularl one. It's Is something else going on?

Please help!

Thank you!

Remove the nest first and see if that helps.

It could be that one has become territorial. You need to make sure that one is not being blocked from food or water as this can sometimes happen.

Yes, it seems that one is territorial around the nest and the perch under it. But, today things seem to be a bit better, so I'm confused. I took the nest our for a little while yeseterday and I also gave them a new millet sprig and a bath, and they love both.

Is there anything else I should do to keep them happy? Do you all let them out of the cage sometimes? This happened once and it was very stressful getting them back in. I just wonder if I'm missing something else.
