Question My canary needs help!!

My babytinker is quite for 3 months now…. When I first bought him he was singing his hart away… since May he stopped singing …. He chirps sometimes but not every day… I noticed that he is molting … but I wonder how long he is going to be quite like this…. It makes me feel so sad not hearing my babytinker’s singing… please advice for how long this molting is expected and what should I do to help him molt faster…
I should say… I bought some sing-sing vitamins…. As well as color vitamins…. And I give him yellow colored powder which I mix in his water everyday which the vet has given me. As well as I give him boiled eggs twice a week….
What else can I do to make my baby sing???
Please help!!

My canary needs help!

What kind of powder did you put in the water? Water can become rancid very fast from vitamens and such. Is this an avian vet? Only offer boiled egg once a week. Canaries are tiny and don't need that much protein. There is nothing you can do to speed up a molt, just hang in there. Your baby probably isn't singing because of it's molt and the breeding season is over.

I agree that you can't speed up a molt, per se, but I don't agree that you should limit protein during a molt.

Birds need protein to produce feathers, and while molting, they especially need this protein if they are to molt properly and as quick as their bodies can allow.
Denying them the necessary protein during a molt can cause problems like slow molt, stuck in molt, etc.

I'd recommend offering an egg food daily to molting birds, and take it down to 1-2 times weekly during non-molting, non-breeding periods.

Is there any chance your canary might have air sac mites?
They are "common" in canaries, and can cause singing problems - raspy voices, clicking, gasping, gaping/open mouth breathing, etc.
Though if the bird is molting, it could just be that Tinker is putting his energy into producing his feathers, rather than producing a song.

Thank-you 4 Ur help... The powder is a yellow coloured and its a vitamin that the Vet has givin me to mix with water during the molt period. But any idea of how long the molt period usually takes for healthy canary? we are in our fourth month now... will it be soon that I hear him sing again?
