I know this is old, but did you ever find out what was wrong with your bird? My cockatoo is showing the exact same symptoms.

Yes....there's a newer post by me w/ more discussion. I believe now it's what is called twirling or stargazing. It could be a slight concusion or lack of a certain vitamin or inner ear problems...everyone advised me to take the little bird to the vet, but I was laid off a while back and simply can't afford it. Besides, he's actually doing well, eating, singing...and sitting on his perch, it's just the way he holds his head that's different. One person wrote in that they have a bird w/ this condition and after three years can only identify him now by his leg band. So that's encouraging. I'm hoping nature will take over and he will heal on his own. In the meantime he's a very special bird to me.
