fur twitching?

Hi
I have a 7 year old tom cat called Tom and he is is SUPER scared of the outdoors, so he goes toilet inside( we can't help him) but lately I've noticed that his back twitchs!.Like he will be just sitting there then the fur on his back will twitch then he licks it, looks around, his back twitchs he jumps up and runs around the room sits down and licks himself. whats wrong with him?! is it because he's scared of EVERYTHING?! or does he have fleas?

It may be nothing, sounds like a normal sort of behavior (though I would have to see, of course). If he has fleas, you should be able to see them or evidence of them on her skin. Not sure what you are saying about the litter box--are you saying he uses one inside the house or is randomly urinating? Is he altered (may just be marking his territory). But, if this is new you may want to have a vet check him out. Seven is getting to middle age for a cat, and they may start to have kidney problems (which can be treated, but best to catch early) or a urinary tract infection. Good luck with Tom!

I would also have to see him, but it does sound like he has fleas.
If he was really good about using his litter box until now....definitely have a vet check him out. It could be kidney problems or even a urinary track infection.

We have a little box for him but he has NEVER used it. He just goes on some clothing on the floor (mainy dads!!) or on in the dogs bed.
My Dad HATES THE CAT! so he wouldn't let us bring him to the vet he wants him to be died! nut he goes but he is hardly home because of work so maybe we could book him then

Cats can be a bit vindictive! I used to have an old boy who had perfect manners....except when dad got him mad. Then old Coalie cat would use Dad's chair to relieve himself. Truth is, they both liked each other, but did not want anyone to know -- Coalie lived to be 16 and Dad is still going strong at 86!

yeah but if Dad liked Tom it would be scarey! Trust me this is REAL hate!

If the cat had fleas he'd be constantly scratching and nibbling himself. Not licking. My cat had fleas twice so I know (VOMIT. GOD I HATE FLEAS). Also you can SEE fleas. You'd know.

Cats twitch their fur. It's more noticeable along the backbone because there isn't much meat or fat in that area. Sounds normal to me.

But if it's as extreme as you say, it's possible he has some neurological issue or something. It doesn't sound like a skin issue.

My cousin had a cat with similar symptoms (he did other crazy stuff too) and it was neurological. If it makes you feel any better, the cat probably isn't in pain, just confused.

Maybe time to see a vet and get a diagnosis.
