Hind leg paralysis in cats? Please help!

Hey all!

I live with a 15-year-old cat. The picture above is from last christmas. Her name is MJ - Mittens Junior. She has been in kidney failure for the past two years, but has been doing fine with it. For the past few months, she has been favoring a back leg, but it was barely noticeable and we assumed from old age. Just a few minutes ago, she went paralyzed in one back leg. She doesn't appear to be in any pain, and is eating now and walking around. She doesn't seem to realize that she isn't controling that leg, and her other back leg is fine. There is no way she got into anything poisonous in our condo. She is completely an indoor cat. The only thing I can think of is something related to her kidney failure.

Any ideas? She's going to the vet tomorrow, since it doesn't appear at this point to be anything urgent since she isn't in pain.

Thanks!

I am NO WAY shape or form an expert on cats. I don't even own a cat

I do have a dog that does that occasionally, seems to happen after she's been napping for a while and will get up, limping, or leg just dragging.

When I took her to the vet, he said that it's pretty common that animals legs "go to sleep" like ours do. Or a pinched nerve.

In the case of my dog, it only lasts about an hour and she is perfectly fine.

Maybe that will ease your mind... I dunno
