Lavender safe for kitties?

I know I have read somewhere about the use of Lavender with cats. I just can not remember if it was good or bad. Does anyone know?

Reason: I clipped a lot of Lavender from the Garden today to put in my Electric Potpourri burners.... the house smells like heaven BTW.

Anyhoo, the kitty fished herself out a couple of sprigs and had a snack. Cant keep her away from the stuff. Have never had this problem before.

Help?

I hope this will ease your mind a little. I think your kitty is safe. ^^

Thanks... she certainly enjoyed rolling around on the floor drooling with it.
She seemed to like it better than her cat nip... go figure.

Thanks for the links.

Well I know its safe for people, a friend of mine grabbed some late one evening and put it on his roasting lamb, he thought he'd grabbed the bush next to it, a rosemary. He said they ate the lamb anyway, it tasted OK, though he prefered the rosemary. Didn't seem to do any harm to him, he was mad anyway..he was a member of the SCA.
