Sometimes I have to help a four legged rescue

A woman contacted me the other day. She had found a little kitten under an abandoned house sitting next to his dead brothers and sisters.

He is appx. 5 weeks old. I started him on Amoxicillon and Terramycin for an URI/Conjunctivitis.

He is as cute as a bug and my daughter is in love! I have never been a cat person, but he is ADORABLE.

Anyway sorry, I know this has nothing to do with birds, but I though I would share with my fellow "parronts".

Come on look at that face....

Awhh, he's the sweetest! sooo cute! look at his little ears! You're daughter deffinately looks like she's in love.. I love cats, but i won't say i'm a big fan of them after my *encounter* with my cousins cat Bentley yesterday. Gahh, my arms are all clawed and bloody still! he doesn't just scratch - he bites HARD.

Poor kitty! He really is very cute. Did you try cleaning his eyes? The mother usually does that with her tongue to keep the eyes free from mucus and prevent infection. He must've been abandoned for a while, which would explain the eye situation. You might be able to wipe a lot of it off with a soft towel dipped in warm water.

I have not decided yet, I am always nervous about keeping a cat because of the birds. I do know that several owners successfully keep both. He will stay with us while he is on the medications, by then I should know for sure.

We went out and bought dishes, litter box, food, etc. Darn cat cost me 100$ so far. Thankfully since I am a licensed vet tech, the vet our rescue uses trusts me to know what medications I need without seeing them. That saves me quite a bit of money.

Anyway we will see.......

****Large sigh as I watch my daughter sleeping with him, I think I might lose this battle SIGH****

Oh, I didn't know you're a vet tech. I apologize if my previous post was superfluous. I just know that because my sister used to keep lots of cats.

Good luck with the new pet :)

Carbon- He has ulcers from having conjunctivitis, the Terramycin is already working. He has nasal discharge and a little congestion in his chest, symptoms of Upper Respiratory Infection.

The "goop" in his eyes is residue from the the Terramycin ointment.

Nope, not offended at all.
