New baby tiel has taken to abusive older tiel!

Hiya, I just bought a new 9 week old 'tiel named "Tinki" and brought it home where i have another 'tiel who is 12 years old ("Jessie") and hisses and harasses *everything* except me. I had to put Tinki in with Jessie for 2 nites because the cage hadn't arrived yet. If Tinki went near Jessie, she would nip at it and hiss a lot (but not doing any damage). Tinki wasn't really that disturbed about it.

Now it has beautiful own cage, but flaps and goes crazy in there if it can't see Jessie. Tinki also climbs frantically up and down the side of his/her cage trying to get to Jessie's cage. When we try to take Tinki out for play, s(he) just keeps glancing towards Jessie's cage and tries to fly to it (although her wings are clipped). We just want s(he) to be a playful, easygoing bird like she was at the pet store and when s(he) first arrived at my house...

PLEASE help!!!!

If your older bird isn't actually hurting the younger one, let them stay together. Tiels are VERY social and they rarely seriously hurt one another. Just keep an eye out on them.

If you are worried about keeping the two together, but their cages close enough that they can see each other, but far enough that they can't actually touch each other. For this you may want to take them out separately for a while until they calm down and get used to each other...

Thanks a heap, I'll give it a go. The main thing is I guess we just don't want Tinki to love Jessie, who dislikes Tinki but only likes me! Little birdy love triangle!
