Cockatiel and Budgies

Greetings to all!

I am interested in owning a Cockatiel. I already have 3 Budgies/ parakeets. The question I have: Is it possible to have a Cockatiel and 3 Parakeets share the same large cage? I would like to get a young weaned hand fed lutino male cockatiel. Bond with the Tiel, slowly introduce the Tiel to the Parakeets then get rid of the 2nd cage. My wife would like just one cage in the house. If I can not get all of them to coexsist in one cage, I just might be force to get rid of the wife and have 2 cages in the house!

Your thoughts and advice are welcomed!

Orettes

I like the way you think! LOL!

IF the cage is large enough, and the tiel has gone through quarantine and was slowly introduced to the budgies, then it's quite possible! It's quite likely though that the budgies will pick on the tiel so the cage would have to be large enough for ALL of them to co-exist in.

See I actually say no unless for some reason they all really bond I've seen the way my budgies and my tiel interact and I see problems if all are housed together. I know some people do it with aviaries and such. But budgies are little and even though tiels are also the budgies try to get in the tiels face and the tiel may someday strike back hurting one of the budgies.

Greetings and Merry Christmas to all!

Well I did not get a Cockatiel for Christmas this morning- which is good because I want to find the right one. Thanks for the replies.

Still trying to work this issue through
