As I see it, it's best to read all that you can, gather all the info you have dissected from the web, pick through it, and choose the best pieces that seem to fit you!
To put simple, learn all that you can, and decide what is best for you and your bird. There are many articles, books, etc out there that have great information, and not all information agrees with someone else's... So it's best for you to decide what is best for you and your birds as long as the birds healthy, body, and mind are not jeopardized. As far as anything goes though, a good book to look into is "The Healthy Bird Cookbook" by Robin Deutsch.
