Hi All! Your advice was Great, Great, Great!!!

Just got new baby cockatiel last week, he was 6 weeks old when I got him. He will be 7 weeks old tomorrow. He is a white face, pied. He is gorgeous! He is just so cute and cuddly, he already knew step up when I brought him home. I have already started him with his speech training, am I too early? also what other tricks can I teach him, I'm new to this teaching stuff and need all the help I can get. He seems to be very smart. When I brought him home, I would rub my finger in little circles on the back of his neck and say " Love on Moki", today when I said that he lowered his little head and when I started rubbing he pushed backwards against my finger and his little eyes just open and close like he is just saying "Oh yeah baby, don't stop". I love it he's just great! You guys are the best, you told me to get a baby cockatiel and you were absolutely right! I Love you guys! This is my first forum and I have struck gold! Oh, his name is Moki - that's short for Smokey, since he has little smoke spots on his chest, I'll put up a pic as soon as I can get one..... HE'S BEEEUUUTIFUUULLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!
Thanks so very much! Please let me know anything I can do to teach him new stuff and advice, just anything you want to tell me. Yes I'm so excited!

Laura Congrats on the love of your life. He sounds like a real cutie. The training is really up to you and the bird and how much time you put into it. You want to get the step up and step down comand first since he is just a baby. In the training sessions try to do only 5 to 10 minutes a couple times a day. Birds lose interest very fast (that ADD kicks in). Time and patients is the key to training. Good luck and keep us posted. Oh and pics if you can!!

Donna :)
