Male or Female?

The first time I posted Nimbus information somebody told me that Nimbus was a he, but then somebody else told me that if Nimbus was a he he would loose his pearls but that if he was a she she would not loose them. Nimbus turned one on Febuary 12 and hasn't gone through her/his first molt. How long until he/she molts?
He/she still looks like the picture but has grown the tail.

To be honest, both are correct.... I've heard stories of a few males that have kept their pearls.... but not many, and most tend to loose them... some might keep a few remnants of pearls but that which they'd be blurred...

I suggest looking at the cockatiel photos at this link....

So there is a posability that Nimbus might be a male with pearls. And I wouldn't find out for sure until Nimbus, if his a she, lays eggs? Well I think the only option I have left is wait.... I want it to be a surprise....no DNA testing...Thanx Monica

Ok is your tiel all gray? One way i've found is quite good to find out.Look at the underside of his/her tail if it is a male it will be all gray and black. If it is female then it will have bars going from side to side these are gray and the other bars range from yellow to white. This means it is a girl.
-------Gray
-------White or yellow
-------Gray
-------White or yellow
and so on.I hope this helps and good luck :D

About the bars Nimbus has none on his/her tail. I might just get Nimbus DNA test and see what he/she is. How much does it cost?

DNA sexing can be done for about $20-25 through Avian Biotech. The pearls do point to most likely female although it WOULD be nice to see photos of Nimbus flight feathers as well.

White face Females especially Pieds Like yours will have solid colored tail feathers. Attached is a Pic of a Female whiteface Pearl Pied with clear tail feathers.

I checked Nimbus's flight feathers and they look like Maxys so I think Nimbus is a female. I can't take pic because I don't have a digi cam.....but some day I will not just yet LOL
