Tiel bleeding

Ok this morning out of nowhere my teil was bleeding at the line where the top of his beak begins. He was shut in his cage at the time so what ever happened it was inside his cage.. He has no other signs of trauma. I was able to stop the bleeding immediately by toweling him and applying kwik stop.

Has anyone ever had this happen and is it something I should talk to our vet about?

Chris

have never heard of this... i'd definitely talk to the vet, and also check the cage for the origin of the bleeding - maybe you can find it (a toy?!) and remove it to prevent this from happening again

hope he's fine...

I have had my tiels end up with blood on their faces from preening blood feathers, but not really bleeding from their nose area. Could he have literally just stuck his nose into something and scratched it? Facial injuries can result in a lot of blood with little damage.

It happened to one of my tiels after they had a night-fright. It bled at the same place as you described. Probably fell and hit their beak on something. He has been fine ever since. I would just wait and see if you notice your bird acting differently or having any problems.

Yea I did and he is 100% normal. Not sure what happened but you would never know it today.
