I went to see the cockatiels

It's been almost four months since my tiel died. I finally went to the pet store to see the tiels. I want to buy another one soon, but there were no pearl/pied's or lutinos there. I want a pearl/pied like my tiel was. The baby's were so cute. Most were old enough to eat some from a food dish. I was giving away free scritches, and several were lined up to get them. It didn't take long for them to figure it out! So cute. The only thing is, i started to feel an allergy response...sniffling and tighter breathing. I wasn't allergic to my tiel, which was surprising since i am allergic to everything else it seems. I had my tiel for 4 years with no problem. I am hoping that my allergic response was to the other animals in the store.

I wonder if anyone has ever developed a bird allergy after having one allergy-free for many years.

I am sorry for your loss. I think one of the greatest tributes to beloved pets who have passed on is loving another pet.

No allergies to our birds, thank goodness, but best of luck with your decision to get a new bird.

I have heard of some people who are allergic to the dust that comes off Tiels when they moult and grow new feathers.

Maybe you should be sure you aren't allergic before you choose a Tiel. If another species (non dusty) would be better, you can see what kind you bod with before you buy one. Let a bird choose you!
