My pair is fighting

I had a pair that had 4 eggs they didn't bring to hatch. All seemed well...but the hatch dates came and went with no babies. About a week after the eggs were due to hatch they starting mating again regularly I figured that meant they were about to try again. I didn't want them to start laying eggs in the same box with the dead eggs so I the opportunity to remove the box. Three days of constant screaming followed. On the third day I did a cage cleaning and when I put their bath back in I set it about three inches from the bars so that they could turn all the way around and not rub their feathers on the bars. My male hunkered down between the tub and the bars and started tearing up the paper towels creating a little nest. I knew he was going to try to get her to lay her eggs there. Men will do anything! So I put a fresh box in place and my hen jumped in right away and had an egg by the following morning. She had not laid at all the year so this would be only a second clutch. The screaming stopped and they were happy again. She has two eggs as of this AM but my pair is fighting. I can't tell if he is trying to prevent her from coming out or she is trying to prevent him from coming into the box. She did the lions share of the brooding last time but did come out for periods of time to eat and bathe. I haven't seen her out today except to spar with her mate on the perch outside the box. Any ideas? Why is there suddenly trouble in paradise?

She is keeping him out!

I've been keeping my eye on the troubled pair and it really appears that she is keeping him out of the box. They were having another round so I approached the cage. She darted in and within a couple of squawks he was ejected. Could she have doubts about his ability to sit well? I noticed with last last clutch that there was an awful lot of scuffling around whenever he went in. Could he be too rough with the eggs?

Sounds like my Tiels

My tiels was the same as yours. My male always push my female away from the nesting box. My female bird want to sit on her eggs but my male won't let her so I grabbed him and she quickly hoped inside the nesting box to have her time to sit on the eggs. I saw last time my female push two eggs aside so the male can sit on them.
