Question Fat wing?

Star was preening himself today and I looked under his wing and saw part of the wing was dark blue. I checked it closely again to find what looks like an internal bleeding under his skin but deeper than just the skin in his right wing. It seems like one of his flight feathers is broken right at the bottom edge. I tried to pluck it with tweaser( am not sure how to spell this word). It didn't work. That wasn't the only spot that looked like dark blue. It extends to almost the middle of his wing. I touched it and it feels very soft and fatter than the rest of the wing.It seems like that he had this for a long time because it never bothered him. He moves his wing normally he even tries to fly and keeps flapping his wings for about 30 seconds. Should I be concerned or just leave it alone? What can I do about it? I am thinking about taking him to the vet. Any advices?

I would leave it alone right now since it isn't bothering him. You don't want to accidently make things worse by trying to help. Does it look like a bruise? My birds have broken their feathers really close to the skin before but I never saw anything like what you described. I would either bring him in to an avian vet or at least call one and ask them. They should be able to tell you if it's something to worry about or not. Better to be safe than sorry!

Yes, it looks like it's bruised but when I touched it, Star didn't twitch or show a sign of discomfort. Like you said, I will call an avian vet first thing in the morning tomorrow. I hope it's nothing bad. I've had him for 18 days now and he's been very healthy and playful.

If it doesn't hurt him or bother him I wouldn't worry about it too much. Let us know what happens!

Calling the vet for advice is a good idea. It may be just a bruise but it sounds like a large one, and the vet will know if there are any potential complications from it.

I did call the avian vet. They said I should give it 3-4 more days. They also said it might be a bruise from a fall because Star can't fly and I saw him/her throw himself from his cage down to the ground. I praying that he'll be OK. Thanks for your help. I will keep you updated on Star also.
