Question How do you get a Whiteface Lutino?

Can anybody tell me how you get a Whiteface Lutino (Albino)? I know it's not as simple as pairing a Whiteface and a Lutino. What are the steps?

Let me see if I remember this correctly. There are many different ways but one is to have a whiteface lutino male or a male that is a whiteface split to lutino and a whiteface female. The lutino gene is carried through the father so in order to have lutino he must carry the gene and any whiteface lutino chicks would be females. If you have a whiteface male that is either lutino or split to lutino and a whiteface lutino female then you would get male and female whitefaced lutino chicks. I hope this makes sense, lol.

Yes it does! I was just given a bird a couple of days ago. The lady said he was a Lutino and although he IS all yellow he has black eyes! So I am thinking he must be a clear pied.

Yes, if he has black eyes then he would be a pied but I believe clear pieds are all white with black eyes and not yellow. I think if they are just yellow they are a very heavily pied but I'm not 100% sure on that.

It depends on if you want an Albino male or an Albino female.... it's suggested to not breed ino's (lutino and/or albino) together.

The simplest way to get an albino (female) is to have a pair that cary the whiteface genes (split or visual), and the father to carry the ino genes (split or visual).

Clear pieds are completely yellow with black eyes. Clear whiteface pieds are completely white with black eyes.

Some lutinos have eyes that appear brown but are really red.... chicks that are born with red eyes may mature to have 'brown eyes' unless in the right light. Ino's can also have blue eyes (supposedly these are cinnamons, too, but I can't say for sure)

To get a whiteface lutino female, the chick has to get the whiteface gene from both parents and the lutino gene from the father only. To get a whiteface lutino male, the chick has to get both genes from both parents. So for any kind of WFL chick, both parents need to be whiteface or split whiteface, and the father has to be at least split lutino. For a WFL male the mother must be lutino or whiteface lutino.

My Shodu is a whiteface hen and her mate Buster is normal grey split lutino, whiteface, and cinnamon. They decided to make babies this year and one of the chicks was a whiteface lutino girl. There were also a couple of lutino girls split whiteface, so they have the potential to produce WFL babies with the right male. One of these days I just might go looking for a male who's whiteface split lutino.
