Possibly sick Cockatiel?

My sweet loving 1 year and 4 months old male cockatiel, J.Alexander(my only fid) Has been acting oddly since about saturday evening.
Normally he calls for me when he hears me come home, or he cant see me. Normally he would follow me into the next room. Since saturday, he hasnt.
He will come sit on me if I put him in the room im in, but he wont follow me to it. He is fluffed up more than usual(I think) and sleeping alot more too, but it could just be me worrying and noticing pointless things. He has been eating regularly,(havent noticed any poopies though, but that could be because hes not constantly on me like normal)
There hasnt been any enviroment changes or anything new around. He still loves being loved on, and is not grumpy at all.
Am I overreacting? Money isnt exactally good right now, so I dont want to take him to the vet just because of a suspicion. But if you guys feel that he is most likely sick, I will take him to the vet no questions asked.

If there is any other information that I could give you to help you help me, please dont hesitate to ask.

you have mentioned all the signs of something not being right. Birds dont show they are sick till they are real sick. Its better to catch it in the beginning then try to cure something.
see if you can work out payments with the vet. some are very good that way. but with what you are saying, a visit should be in order.

have you noticed if he is having a heavy moult?

Hi this is my first posting so please be gentle. My cockatiel, Sparky, has been having some similar symptoms just recently and I'm taking him to the vet today so can let you know what they say later. I would agree with Lisa that if you're worried its probably best to try to get to a vet.
Sparky is moulting quite heavily so I wondered if it could have been that but he's just getting worse now and is really jumpy. I know I should take him to the vet when I can't stop worrying about him, it puts my mind at rest if nothing else.

Hi I've just got back from the vet with Sparky. She said is could be just down to a heavy moult but he's got a sore throat and his nose is a bit bunged up so rather than leave it to chance she's prescribed some anti-biotics and anti-inflametries. He'll hate me while I have to give him his medicine but once he's feeling back to normal I'm sure he'll love me again:) Hope your tiel is feeling better soon.

My cockatiel has been having the exact symptoms has your bird. He has just come home from a week's stay at a friends house, because I was on vacation. He is really grouchy, and won't stop biting. Maybe it is because of stress. Have you done anything new with your bird? Maybe that is what is making him like that.

Fredahu17, if you look at the date above the poster's name, you will see that this thread was back in August.

Monica gave you some good advice in your thread you made, I would follow it.
