Introducing Baby Bird

Well, my first bird ever was a cockatiel, named Casey. He was a normal gray male. When he was about 5 years old, we bought him a friend. Now I was 13 at the time, so when I picked out Baby Bird, I just basically picked out which one out of the bunch that I liked best haha. I am 21 now.

We always assumed Baby Bird was a female, because she was much larger and broader than Casey was. Casey was very small and thin. Casey passed away last year at the young age of 12, a few months after my father passed away.

Well, I just did some searching, to see if I could find out the sex of Baby Bird, just from her coloring. Well, to me, SHE looks like a HE! lol. A male white face pearl, does that sound about right? Her real name is Mackenzie, so luckily, both that name and Baby Bird will fit a boy too lol. She sings ALOT, but I thought she got it from Casey. She wistles tunes, and does a ringing sound, along with that cockatiel high pitch "YIIIIPPPPPPP!!!!!!" :eusa_wall

So here HE is? Baby Bird!

Pretty !!! or should I say absolutely charming !!!

If I happen to see one in Singapore, I will definately get it as a mate for Miri. Unfortunately in my country, cockatiel with such young age and coloration are rather hard to find. Even if you find it, they may cost as much as twice !!

Perhaps you can do an DNA test with his/her feathers to find out ( quoted from Dyna ). It costs only 20 bucks.

Pls post some songs and videos for us to enjoy. Our hearing senses always dun get satisfied having our sight delighted. Looking forward to hear how it sings....!!!

(Cannot stop looking at his picture when I am typing this.. He/she really reminds me of the tiny Miri I got since in Jan05. I am 21 too currently, but gonna reach 22 in July soon...age is really catching up...)

That is a male! I guess maybe Baby Bird had pearls when he was younger??? If so, then yes a whiteface pearl. However, he has no pearls now so looks like a normal whiteface. I had a whiteface split pied for about half a year (before rehoming him, he's doing great in his new home, btw!).

Charming little bugger from the sounds of it!

Actually, I dont recall any pearls when he was younger lol. So a regular white face he is! I went to a site, and they didn't have regular white face as a color, so i picked the closest one :aiwebs_01

He really is a sweet little guy, he likes to be kissed, he isn't afraid of faces or people getting really close, but he HATES hands! He sees your hands come up, and he freaks out. His wings aren't clipped, which I think ads to the problem, because he knows he can get away lol. He used to be alot better when his wings were clipped, But he really enjoys hanging out in my bedroom, perching on top of anything he can find. Leads to more poop cleaning for me, but well worth it I also have 2 dogs, which aren't allowed in my bedroom when the bird is out... but heaven forbid if the dogs managed to get near the bird before I can stop them, I like the fact that he could atleast fly away or get somewhere higher, to be safe. I am a worrier :aiwebs_01
