Oh My LOL

Ok so Ive had my Petey for 8 months now, but known him since before he had feathers, hatched on May 16, so in 2 months Petey will be 1 year old...
Well all this time I figured that Petey was a boy, the orange was really bright on the face, and the tail feathers have no bars like is normal with females.... now I know it takes time to tell, but Petey just seemed like a boy to me LOL
I thought he was masturbating by the way he would rub his rear against the bars of the cage and make a cooing sounds LOL and I call him Pete Pete as a nickname, and he even learned to say that....

But....

Last night...

Petey laid 3 eggs LOL so now I gotta rename HER and try to start calling her a HER instead of a he like I have been doing the past 10 months LOL And I have NO ideas for a girly name that is similar to Petey hehee

Any name ideas?? LOL

You could just keep it at Petey! My husband had a female BFA that was named Petey. And my little Ziggy turned out to be a her after we had named her as a him.

Or Peewee sounds a lot like Petey

That happened to us too with a bird named Jeremy :(

We tried Jeremina but eventually we stuck with Jeremy or Jer-Jer lol

What about Petri?? That could be girl or boy...

Or Peppy?

Three eggs in one night? That does not happen. Only one egg is formed at a time and usually every other day. It can happen once a day but thats even unusual.

The poster never said that they were all in one night...

That is why visually sexing birds on the brightness of the cheek patch does not work. Lutinos and Pieds are hard to visually sex, the only ones that I would say I was 100% sure of visually sexing are whiteface and normal greys.

She did lay the eggs all in one night. I am at her cage every day with fresh food and water and off and on throughout the day to spend time with her as well, and there were no eggs that night before i went to bed, when I woke up the next morning, there were 3.

And I am just going to keep her name as Petey cuz its just gonna be too hard to change it to something new LOL
