: Bonnie and Angel :

(These are old ones, the cage is now downstairs again and they have a new cage XD)

This is Angel, she's the nice one. She loves being petted, but hates hands (I know, stick with me) and is happy to either stay in the cage or come out the cage if I leave the door open long enough and just sit on the top.

And this is the evil one, Bonnie

Bonnie will go on your arm if she wants, and will bite and hiss if she doesn't. If she's on your arm, after the show of 'hiss hiss I'm a big evil bird', she'll promptly fall asleep.
She has no fear. She doesn't care if you are bigger than her. She has a beak, she can make you bleed, she wins.

I took her to the vet once and I warned the vet in advance I was bringing two hen cockatiels; one was nice and reasonable (Angel) and the other was psycho and bitey (Bonnie)
Angel panicked and bit the Hell out of me because she hated hands and didn't like being put in a box and seeing strange people when not protected with bars

Bonnie .. being the evil little sod that she is, Bonnie just kept still in my hands with her head looking around occationally, her eyes half-lidded, and she was so calm I thought she was feckin' stoned. She tricked both myself and the vet, who had the falcon gloves out ready for this monster I'd warned her about. Bloody evil sod.

(Bonnie doesn't like my phone either)

(But again, she can be trained and she had no fear of my phone. As long as it didn't make noise)

The only really nice picture I have, and I freakin' love it

I'll post some newer pictures tomorrow!

Bonnie is beautiful ;) Peanut is similar in that he'll bite and hiss until he's on you, then he's the happiest tiel in the world... just as long as it's ALL on his terms!

XD I can assure you that's not a happy face! She's looking at me like she's going to rush across the cage and bite me. Bonnie is very defensive about her nest, even if it is with dud eggs, as evidenced by a little tale:

Bonnie hates my camera, because it makes loud noises randomly (i.e. whenever I get a phone call or text). So, when I take pictures of her, I have to either wait until they are used to it, or appear as though I'm just texting and not 'pointing' it at them to take a photo. So, I caught this picture waiting until she was relaxed at me with the camera in her direction (this is between the bars of the cage while I sit on the floor)

Sweet, yes? Well, less than a second after I took this picture,s he came running at me across the cage and scared the living daylights out of me! I was watching her through the camera which has a poor frame rate (i.e. everything goes in slow motion and is a second behind the action) so I got a Hell of a fright!

OMFG angry feathered tennis ball!

They look like my pair and have similar temperaments, except my grey likes hands. My lutino likes to put her head under my resting hand and move her head back and forth, but should I try and pick her up the beak comes out!

OMG your Lutino is adoreable! How old are they? They look like no older than babies!

Angel the Grey only likes hands if it pets her and doesn't in any way try to grab her or pick her up XD She's odd that way. Bonnie does step up to your hand if she wants, but does NOT like being petted (unless Angel is being petted; then she turns into a jealous yellow flying weasel of course)

Pretty, the grey is 4, and Ruby is 3. They are on the small side for tiels, Pretty is about 87g & Roo is about 92g.

The hen is agressive in the cage because she thinks that is her nest. If you remove the nest area and put in a grate she will calm down. Tiels can become chronic egg layers if allowed access to "nesting sites" and that can cause them to become eggbound if they deplete their system of calcium and other nutrients.

Bonnie knows to keep her calcium up when she lays; she wore her loamstone down to a nub the last time and she's after the mineral block and cuttlefish/mineral block this time. She's not a stupid bird, and the most she has laid is around 5 eggs

What is interesting to watch about her is the fact that she spends half her time on the eggs, the other half sleeping/going about her business as she would do if she had a male that would share the parenting duties. Angel doesn't usually bother although there have been times where she goes down to the eggs when Bonnie isn't there and moves them as though she's about to sit on them, but seems to realise what she is doing and wanders off.
