I have 2 girls, and while they are mostly quiet, when they screech, they peel paint off the walls and I have heard them outside my apartment building. They are my watchbirds! I will agree with other budgie owners that budgies are louder more often, but man can my Ruby Roo yell!

99% of parrot species are diurnal (daytime only creatures). I don't find cockatiels noisy at all, but I know others do.
I always find it funny, or weird, when people ask me how I sleep at night! It's not a hamster, or a rat, or even a sugar glider! It's a bird! It sleeps at night just like I do! The only downside??? They wake up as soon as the sun comes up.... and I am by no means, a morning person.... and they can be quite noisy in the morning!
