Accually, the chicks are fed by both parents. They normally wean between 5-10 weeks old. Every bird is different and will wean at a different rate. After 10 weeks, if a parent raised bird is not weaned, I would talk to a vet.

Yes, I would agree. The parents stop feeding them before the chicks stop begging. They are actually able to feed themselves when the parents start refusing to feed them. A chick which is still begging is not ready to go to a new home.
