Question 'Tiel Tails

Hi! I don't think I've posted in the 'tiel section before, but I've been reading! Kind of weird question...not really important but just curious! I have two 'tiels right now, Ducky a 1.5yr old pied (mostly grey) boy who is the coolest and most obsessed-with-me bird I have ever had, and a sweet 5yr old pearl girl who I got a few weeks ago (still needs a name!).

So how's my question. How long are your 'tiels' tails? Ducky's tail seems extra loong to me. The new girl I got last month came without a tail (feathers seem to be sarting to come back a bit though). So I can't compare them yet, and the only other tiels I've had were years ago. But I've had him since he was a few months old and it's always seemed long to me. I remember someone we met (another bird person) commenting to me ages ago about it also. So I'm not going crazy (I think!) lol!

I remember reading something about the average ratio of cockatiels' tails, something like it equals the wigspan or bodylength. What is it "supposed" to be? I love him and his tail, just wondering!

<-- how long?
P.S. - I'll try to post a picture soon!

Ooh thanks Crystal! I didn't find it when I searched for some reason! I'll have to convert and measure now.

Henry Total lenght 20cm 7.8in

Tinkerbell Total lenght 18cm 7.08in

They are both in a molt at the moment, that is why I have the total lenght.
They are not tame as yet so cannot handle them to check how much of the feather is in the skin.

Didn't get any center tail feathers this molt season. Ducky's tail does seem a bit longer than normal, at least compared to my tiels! But I've also seem some extremely long crested tiels, too!

I will say though, that my females' tails are shorter than the males... but there's so small a difference that it's nothing huge... except for Kiwi who usually sports a "duck butt."
