I've got one tiel who'll take medication just fine... in frusteration, she bites the syringe, I squeeze, she gets meds in her mouth. Most of the time, she swallows. Sometimes, she decides to shake it out instead....

I've got another tiel who'll spit *ANYTHING* out. She absolutely refuses to accept! I have no clue on how I'm supposed to medicate her.... not that she's on any meds atm... but still...

You can get probiotics in powder forum, and mix this into water and give via syringe, or top onto fresh foods that the bird enjoys eating.

Ive tried putting it on his favorite foods and he doesn't want it. At the vets office he swallowed some of it. Today he did but just a tiny bit. He gets his feathers really really dirty. That's the problem im facing right now...

What if you put a soft tissue or toilet tissue right under his beak and around the neck. Situate it first before you start to medicate.

Ya i do that. I keep the towel just under his beak and then clean with damp toilet paper. But he seems to spit some out after and get it all over. Its really thick stuff too so it's hard to get off if it sticks.

I agree with Greycloud's suggestion of mixing juice with meds. It's worked like a charm with my GCC.

Before we fed him any meds, we used the syringe to feed him a bit of juice. Once you get the syringe=yummy idea down with them, feeding them any sort of medication (mixed with juice) is as easy as pie. He takes it like a champ and gets so excited just seeing the syringe!

If it's thick, maybe dilute it with a bit of water like you said yourself. It won't take much to thin the consistency.

My bird isn't that fond of fruit. He loves veggies much more.
So what juice would you recommend? What are you all using?

I was suggesting *POWDERED* probiotics put on food... not gel. I've used both.

Any fruit juice will work. Or even a veggie juice. Preferrably one without any added sugar or salt.

I have sugar free apple, orange, and cranberry juices at home. I was worried about the apple juice because it might contain seeds. The orange and cranberry might be a little too acid for him.
These are not homemade, unfortunately...
Im sorry if I am asking way too much but this is the first time something medical has been done for my bird. I don't even know if the bene-bac is helping
Hes been on it for 5 days. 1 gram per day

Today he got a little less dirty but he just doesn't want it...
