Quest for 'tiel mutation people

Ok I've got people over on another board scratching their heads over this little one that I've bred. Just thought I'd see if anyone here might have some ideas before sending pics to the cockatiel society. Now the simple answer would be a pastelface lutino, my first thoughts, however, note the absence of cheekpatch.

Started off with white down and red eyes. At just under 3 weeks she looked like this. (the white one at the front).

Fast forward to being weaned and going out to the aviary (plan was to keep her all the way along) and she looks like this.

front

back

next to Charlie my w/f pearl pied so you can see the colour difference

Mum and dads first lot of babes. Mum is w/f pearl, dad is a single factor pastelface pied/pearl, platinum and by the looks of madam lutino. the other babes in this clutch as pictured in the first photo were 2 x w/f split pieds and a w/f pearl/pied.

My guess personally, based on the parents genetics, would be a whiteface platino.

However, as I understand it, a hen cannot be both platinum and lutino. Nor can a male be split both mutations.

Unless we assume this chick is a male, in which case he could then be a platino.... *BUT* the genetics still do not add up.

Therefore, I'm stumped as well!

If you find out what she is, let us know!!!! She looks like a dirty yellow albino. Not quite yellow, not quite tan, but definitely not lutino!

ok my understanding from the parents breeder is that cock birds can be split to ino and platinum but I will investigate this further. Now can't be male as the ino gene is sex linked and mum isn't visual ino.

so in conclusion...

woohoo I stumped Monica on a genetics/mutation question, which must be a first.

Looks like I'll have to contact the cockatiel society here and see what they think.

I'll let you know when I know more and if anyone else has any ideas all are welcome. I've been through my cockatiel mutation book about a zillion times (ok 10) and can't work it out from pictures or anything else there.

No, not a first, but more like a first in a while!

From what I was reading about platinums and lutinos is that they share the same exact location on the chromosome. Therefore, you can't have a male that is split to platino, but you can have a visual male platino. Hen's can't be platino's because of the missing "arm" on the "y" chromosome.

Maybe you can figure out what that means in these pages below...

Ok she's possibly a cinnamon w/f lutino according to a guy I spoke to who's pretty good with his 'tiel mutations. The cinnamon gives that slight colour wash. Fairly uncommon and straight into my breeding programme. When Barbie is old enough she'll be paired up with a w/f cinnamon pearl pied boy.

If I get another one like missy I'll give you a yell Mel.

The ivory color makes her look very regal and "vintage"...she's gorgeous, no matter what she is!
