Kersting in St. Louis is worth the drive, he use to treat Chico when we lived in Mo, he is awesome :) we drove nearly three hours one way to see him.

Ask the vet if he could've had a seizure. One of my tiels recently had a series of two seizures. He recovered after spending a few days w/my vet, being gavage fed by her.....he returned home where I coaxed him to eat w/hand feedings.

Start weighing him daily. Until he recovers give him what he'll eat, even if it is millet and seed. My tiel went from approx 120 grams down to about 90 grams in a matter of days.

Very important to weigh him daily.

Give gatorade to drink if he has diarhea and isn't eating.

Most importantly call your vet and ask if it is possible that your bird had a seizure.

just read some previous posts. Get the bird to a new vet asap. Ask about seizures.

If she's passing a good amount of feces, she's not egg-bound.

Call those vets that you were given names of. The one you went to sounds like he doesn't have a clue about treating birds. The second thing my vet does when one of my birds is ill is to do a gram strain and fecal examination. First is weight. Remember, time is of the essence at this point. Don't wait too long.

a couple of things i recommend. but, before i do, i just have to say that i am by no means an expert.

1. if you can't find an avian vet, have a regular vet consult an avian vet (by phone, email, whatever)!!!!!!! i'm actually surprised that the vet you saw didn't do/suggest this. and, if you want to suggest avian vets for the consult, google the top vets/top veterinary schools in the country and speak to them about whether they would be willing to consult with your vet.

2. have the vet run the baseline tests: CBC (complete blood count), fecal gram stain, blood chemistry. then, i would recommend having the four major disease tests done. lastly, i would also test for zinc and lead poisoning.

3. make sure there are no ships in the paint of your cage that would indicate digestion of the paint, which could lead to metal toxicity.

good luck. i will keep her in my thoughts and prayers tonight.
