Just a little sidenote about how your 'tiel prefers to eat snacks. I bought Kaytee Nutrapuffs months ago in the Cherry Blossom variety (oh Gods how I wish I could get my hands on them again :< You Americans and Canadians are so lucky). My 'tiels could be hand-fed these snacks in different ways; Angel would take them one she was assured you weren't going to bite her, while Bonnie had to hiss and threaten the treat in your hand first before she trusted you to give it to her. Or you just offered it to Angel first, then Bonnie wanted to steal it, evil flying weasle that she is
So anyway, I bought little vitamin C biscuits yesterday. These are quite long and perfect to be held in the feet, if your cockatiel can/does this. Angel at first just nipped pieces off the treat I held through the bars, getting used to the texture and taste, but after a while I offered her the whole treat and she took it out my hand and held it in her foot to eat XD She is the only cockatiel I know that does this, and she did it with the Kaytee Nutrapuffs too when she wasn't being harassed by Bonnie. She doesn't do this with her veg or anything else (although she does occationally hold a strand of millet to keep it still if it's normally too far out of reach)
Bonnie, however, doesn't use her foot. She takes the treat then places it against the perch like a table. Of course, this means the treat eventually falls off but hey, that's her eating style and why I prefer to hold her treats for her or offer them in a bowl
So, how do your 'tiels eat their treats? Foot or table?
