What are the signs that two cockatiels are in love?

Hello, i recently added a 3 month old pearl to my family, and i was wondering what are sings that the two cockatiels are in love? Would the male be grooming the female, or the female grooming the male? Right from the get go, 5 minutes after i brought her or him home, the other tiel was kissing preening the other one. Seemed like an instant connection to me but i am curious. Thanks

Preening is a bonding activity, it does not mean that they are "in love" though. At 3 months old, your younger tiel is still a child. Make sure that you don't allow anything that looks like a nest until that one is at least 2 years old if you plan on breeding. Before that age isn't safe for the parent bird or the chicks.

Also, at 3 months old, all tiels look female. You could have a male, and unless you have DNA tested or the breeder has, it is a guess on what you have.

In the future, if you bring in new birds, you really need to quarantine them, and do a slow introduction. By putting the new bird right in the cage with the old one, you took a huge risk disease wise. You are VERY lucky that the older bird didn't attack the intruder to his space.

Yes.

First the bird was taken to avian vet and had a clean bill of health. Believe me would not jepordize a life. Also, do not plan on breeding we have enough. Also, if they do, yes not at least till 2 but i dont want babies. LOL.
